WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A BEGINNING CODER: It is so important for new coders to gain as much experience as they can in a variety of different settings (inpatient, outpatient, professional services). Build your way up: Start with diagnosis coding and then move on to procedure coding using CPT and then ultimately inpatient coding. The more types of cases you code, the better you get.
