In the morning hours of Christmas Eve the Senate passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (HR 3590), 60-39.

The bill, with a cost estimated at $871 billion over the next 10 years, does not include a public option; however, it does include provisions for mandated benefits.

The Senate version and the House version will be reconciliation later in January 2010.
