Coders have a moral and ethical responsibility to judiciously avoid reimbursement fraud and abuse at their facilities. To ensure hospital compliance, the government and accrediting bodies constantly scrutinize these facilities through various initiatives such as the Recovery Audit Contractor program and the OIG Work Plans.
