Hip implant price hikes ease as market matures

The hip replacement market is among the most established of markets, reaching a maturity level that is somewhat unusual for a physician preference product. For hospitals, that market maturity seems to have put the brakes on rising prices. According to the latest survey of hip replacement components, prices rose by just 1.2% in 2008. That?s after a price increase of 4.9% the previous year for the same market basket of products from orthopedic product major manufacturers.
