New ER program aims to reduce wait times
Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, October 10, 2008
In an effort to reduce ED wait times, a new program will redirect patients who use ERs for non-emergency care to one of five clinics in Nashville, the Tennessean reports.
The ER Diversion program, which started at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, is a joint venture of United Neighborhood Health Services and AmeriChoice by UnitedHealthcare. A CMS grant to TennCare is funding the effort.
Other emergency departments are being asked to join the program.
