News: Minnesota residents to have online health records access by 2011

Patient Financial Services Weekly Advisor, August 1, 2008

Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty announced Tuesday that he plans to give all state residents access to secure, online personal health portfolios by 2011, the Star Tribune reports.

At a healthcare alliance meeting in St. Paul, Pawlenty said the move will put Minnesota at the forefront of consumer-friendly healthcare.

The Star Tribune reports that the governor also plans to create health-reimbursement accounts for state employees that would enable them to put pre-tax money on a card that they could use as a flexible spending account to pay upfront expenses without collecting receipts and submitting claims.
