Medicare details patients' hospice rights

New CMS regulations allow beneficiaries the right to determine their hospice care, Reuters Health/Yahoo reports.
According to CMS, there are almost one million Medicare patients receiving hospice-care from more than 3,000 Medicare-approved facilities in the U.S.
The new Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP) include a specific list of Medicare beneficiaries’ rights regarding their end-of-life care that did not previously exist. This is the first regulation overhaul for hospice providers since 1983, according to the Reuters Health/Yahoo report.
