The patient access manager wants solutions from measuring registration accuracy rates.
But is it OK to not have all the answers right away?
Yes, says Michael S. Friedberg, FACHE, CHAM, of Armanti Financial Services in Bloomfield, NJ. Managers, he says, will have more questions than answers. And questions are a good thing-as long as there are solutions.
Friedberg, a former access manager, says the "accuracy rates will provide you with the questions to ask but not the solutions to the problem. I know there's a problem. I have no idea what the solution is. It says to me I need to look at it. It allows you to develop the right questions to ask to solve the problem. In developing an accuracy program, you have to look at what you expect to get out of it. To me, the idea of accuracy rates is always to emphasize the positive and identify opportunities."
