MA residents enrolling in health plan

Massachusetts, the only state to require every individual to be insured, saw a big spike in enrollments in the last year and a half, the Boston Globe reports.

Nearly 300,000 enrolled in a health plan since the state mandated insurance coverage for all residents; those who do not enroll by the end of the year face penalties. Last year, the U.S. Census said there were 657,000 uninsured Massachusetts residents; the state estimated 395,000.
