You might think about creating an interdisciplinary team of leaders committed to improving teaching and assessment of this competency. Be sure to provide the leadership team with visibility throughout the institution, including public endorsement from institutional leaders.
In addition, consider involving patients and families by incorporating their knowledge in curriculum planning and teaching. Think of ways to include their voices in learning activities.
Lastly, identify the target training programs or departments and develop appropriate curricular materials and teaching strategies for each audience.
