Editor’s note: The following is an edited excerpt from Residency Program Alert’s (RPA) coverage of the 2020 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey, which can be accessed in the RPA archive here.
Fewer coordinators are being asked to manage their programs alone, according to HCPro's latest Residency Coordinator Salary Survey. Of the respondents who indicated the number of coordinators working in their program, more than two-thirds reported that they are the sole coordinator in their program/fellowship in our 2020 survey. After an increase seen in the 2019 survey when three-fourths of respondents reported being the sole coordinator, this figure is back to being nearly equal to what was seen in our 2017 survey.
Overall, 2020 survey respondents reported an average of 1.5 coordinators per program. For a breakdown of coordinator to resident/fellow ratios for the seven most popular specialties among survey respondents, see Table 1.
