Editor’s note: The following is an edited excerpt from Residency Program Alert’s (RPA) coverage of the 2020 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey, which can be accessed in the RPA archive here.
Much like our previous years’ surveys, the results from the 2020 Residency Coordinator Salary Survey survey suggest that the modern coordinator has a diversifying roster of responsibilities (see Figure 1). Most respondents (86%) indicated that they frequently act as the communication liaison for the program director, reinforcing the idea that a successful program requires a strong coordinator-director relationship.
The second most frequently performed responsibility reported among survey respondents was recruitment (85%).
Most respondents indicated they frequently performed tasks related to the clinical competency committee (CCC) and program evaluation committee (PEC), with the third and fourth most common responsibilities being coordination of the CCC (83%) and the PEC (81%).
