Cardiologists saw the biggest pay increases from 2017-2018—a 4.4% raise in compensation. Eight other specialties also had increases, ranging from 1.4% to 4.3%.

These numbers come from a survey conducted by from SullivanCotter, with data collected from over 150,000 physicians and advanced practice professionals. The other specialties that saw compensation increases include: emergency medicine, pediatrics, orthopedic surgery, hospitalist, internal medicine, family medicine, psychiatry, and OB-GYN. General surgery was the only specialty included in the survey that did not report an increase.
