The AMA is calling on medical schools, GME programs/sponsoring institutions, and healthcare organizations affiliated with GME to submit proposals to its Reimaging Residency grant program. The $15 million grant will fund up to eight projects over the next five years, which are “bold and innovative projects that promote systemic change in graduate medical education.”
According to the AMA, the major aims of the grant are to support projects that:
- Improve the transition from medical school to residency
- Modify curriculum to readiness for practice
- Optimize the learning environment to support well-being
The AMA decided to create the Reimaging Residency program after the success of its Accelerating Change in Medical Education grant program, which provided funding for similar projects focused on undergraduate medical education.
Interested applicants are asked to first submit a letter of intent by February 1. The AMA will select a group to then submit full proposals. Winners will be announced in June, with the program set to start in July.
