Nearly two-thirds of the participants of the 2018 American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Match were placed into osteopathic residencies in 25 specialties. According to the AOA, the percentage of matched participants is slightly lower than past years. In all, about 2,500 graduating osteopathic medical students and past DO graduates participated in the AOA Match.

The specialties that received the highest percentage of matches were family medicine (30%), internal medicine (25%), and emergency medicine (9%). Although more than 700 positions were not filled through the initial match process, the AOA said many of them would be filled in the days to come.
