The average physician signing bonus paid in 2016 is up slightly from 2015, according to healthcare staffing company The Medicus Firm. In its 2017 Physician Placement Report, the firm said that 90% of physicians were paid a bonus and the average amount was about $24,800, up from $23,600 during the previous year. Primary care physicians comprised the majority of placements with internists, pediatricians, and family practitioners accounting for 35% of placements. More than 90% of placements were physicians hired as employees.
