A group of pre-med junior and senior students from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, recently spent a week observing the daily routines of medical residents to gain a better understanding of what it’s like working in a hospital setting. The students spent their time with family medicine residents at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, in Utica, New York, attending morning report meetings, a clinical simulation lab, and rotations in various settings, such as the family medicine clinic and emergency room. Residents also provided the students with advice on applying to medical schools and studying for the Medical College Admission Test.
