With the amount of learning required of students during medical school, they often lack the time and opportunity to reflect on their experience. Penn State College of Medicine has been offering a class, “Comics in Medicine” to take stock of where they are as they form their professional and personal identity. Students enrolled in the course meet twice a week for a month to read comics that address medical themes, brainstorm ideas, and draw their own comics that tell a story about a formative experience they’ve had during medical school.
