Bill aims to increase residency positions

Representative Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) introduced legislation that would add federal support for an additional 3,000 residency slots per year. The “Training Tomorrow’s Doctors Today Act” would lift the Medicare funding cap in place since 1997. It would also establish transparency and accountability measures by directing the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and medical education stakeholders to work together to institute patient care performance standards.
