Medical school enrollment hits new high

The total number of students enrolled in medical schools this year reached an all-time high of 20,630, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). This represents a 25% increase in enrollment since 2002. This year there was a total of 52,550 applicants to medical schools, which represents a 6.2% increase over the number of applicants in 2014. Of those, 38,460 were first-time applicants, a 4.8% increase over last year.
