Under the ACGME's Next Accreditation System, residency programs have transitioned to a new model of self-assessment that includes producing a self-study document and a 10-year self-study site visit. Ingrid Philibert, PhD, MBA, senior vice president of the ACGME's Department of Field Activities and executive managing editor of the Journal of Graduate Medical Education, recently discussed the move to the new assessment model, guidance for programs during the process, and upcoming developments.
