Residents' long-term goals

Residents are nearly evenly divided when asked what their long-term goals are, according to the results of Medscape’s annual resident survey released this week. Of the more than 1,700 residents surveyed, 26% said they wanted to be a partner or practice owner, 24% wanted to be employed, 24% wanted to do both, and 27% didn’t know.
Other highlights of the survey include:
Doubts about becoming a doctor?
• Yes, occasionally/sometimes: 68%
• Yes, almost all the time: 9%
• Yes, all the time: 3%
• No, never: 20%
Do you have enough time for personal health/wellness?
• Yes, sometimes: 51%
• No: 36%
• I don’t know: 13%
