A new bill introduced in the Nebraska legislature proposes offering up to $120,000 in loan repayments to medical residents who practice in areas that have a shortage of healthcare workers.

Residents would be eligible to receive up to $40,000 a year if they are enrolled in an approved medical specialty program, practice for at least one year in an under-served area, and accept Medicaid patients.
