Enrollment in osteopathic medical colleges rises

According to a report released by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM), new student enrollment in osteopathic medical colleges increased 5.2% from last year. Total student enrollment increased 6.7% for a total of 24,615.
 
AACOM’s report also stated that 4,978 physicians graduated from osteopathic colleges from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, which was a 3.6% increase. A third of graduating DOs said they planned on practicing in underserved areas.
