Washington State University (WSU) has begun running advertisements and launched a new website promoting its plan to open the state’s second publically funded medical school after dissolving its partnership with the University of Washington (UW).

Last month, the two universities announced the end of their medical education partnership after WSU announced its proposal to open its own medical school in Spokane. UW opposed WSU’s proposal, questioning if a second program would be the best use of funds. Both universities will now compete for funding from the Legislature. WSU is expected to request $2.5 million for the next two years.
