A study recently published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that where residents are trained may help predict how conservatively or aggressively they’ll practice.

Researchers examined the results of 6,639 residents taking the American Board of Internal Medicine certifying examination for the first time. They found that residents from programs characterized by lower intensity practice patterns were more likely to choose the correct answers on questions on when conservative and aggressive approaches were appropriate.
