The National Congress of Family Medicine Residents has adopted a resolution calling on the American Academy of Family Physicians (AFFP) to explore providing educational experiences in direct primary care (DPC) settings.

At the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students last week, the congress also requested that the AFFP explore establishing residency programs funded by DPC practices. These residencies would not be funded by federal legislation, allowing more freedom to increase the number of residency positions without requesting federal funding.
