An experienced medical educator, a resident, and a medical student will soon join the National Resident Matching Program’s (NRMP) board of directors.

The board elected Dr. Carol Berkowitz, Dr. Maya Babu, and Francis Deng at its May meeting, the NRMP announced Wednesday.

Berkowitz, a long-time pediatrics residency program director, is currently the executive vice chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Harbor UCLA-Medical Center and professor of clinical pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles.

Babu is a neurological surgery resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and Deng is a distinguished scholar at the Washington University School of Medicine.

Currently, the NRMP’s board of directors has four officers, 10 directors, three resident physician directors, and three student directors. Berkowitz, Babu, and Deng will join the board July 1.
