NRMP releases complete 2014 Match data

The 2014 Match offered a record high number of positions and filled nearly all of them, according to data recently released by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
The organization provided its full report on the 2014 Match, which it called one of its most successful. This year, the Match offered 29,671 positions and filled 28,490, or 96%, of those positions.
The report contains a plethora of data from the Match, including:
- Matches by specialty and applicant type
- Number of positions offered and filled for selected specialties
- Percent of matches by choice and type of applicant
NRMP Executive Director Mona M. Signer also presented data about the 2014 Meeting at the National Group on Student Affairs meeting recently, including data from the residency program directors’ survey. According to Signer’s presentation, some of the top factors program directors used to screen candidates for interviews included:
- United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 scores
- Letter of recommendation in the specialty
- Medical school performance evaluation
- United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 2 Scores
- Personal statements
