News and briefs: New York neurosurgery residents first to use brain simulator

Residents at Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery are the nation’s first to use the 3D-enabled NeuroTouch virtual simulator to improve brain surgery outcomes, according to an equities.com story.

Faculty members are encouraged to use the simulator to self-evaluate strengths and weaknesses during surgical procedures. Residents will practice five different scenarios against outcome measures established by the program.
