News and briefs: Dean aim to add 'Do no financial harm' to Hippocratic Oath

Vineet Arora, an assistant dean and associate professor of medicine at University of Chicago's Pritzker School of Medicine is among a growing number of physicians seeking more transparency in billing patients. Training medical students and residents about financial decision-making, in tune with costs to society and the patient, is the goal of Arora's message, according to a recent Chicago Tribune article.

Arora is seeking to have the phrase, “Do no financial harm” to the Hippocratic Oath to further pronounce the point about fiscal responsibility. Arora developed a series of training videos to help residents and medical students with the complex issue.
