Residency Manager blog: Burnout high

A study published in last week’s Archives of Internal Medicine concluded that 46% of physicians experienced at least one symptom of burnout, such as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment. This percentage places the occupation in the highest tier of burnout in regards to all occupations in the United States.

Researchers also observed burnout data for each specialty. Emergency medicine was the highest, while dermatology came in with the lowest percentage of survey participants acknowledging at least one symptom of burnout.
