Healthcare is built for teamwork. With so many physicians, nurses, and caregivers in dozens of specialties and subspecialties, it makes sense to go the extra mile and build strong teams, says William Lyons, MD, MS, associate professor of internal medicine-geriatrics division at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. These teams also exist outside of the traditional hospital and physician's office settings. Physicians must learn to work with their non-physician colleagues to improve care for their patient population.
