Studies examines impact of the 'July Effect'

July brings new residents to your program, and along with them comes new studies and media articles describing the ‘July Effect’. This year is no different.

The Annals of Internal Medicine published a new study that looks at 39 previously published studies to determine how the arrival of new residents’ effect patient outcomes. Researchers found mixed results across the studies, but evidence suggests that there is increased patient mortality and lower efficiency.
