When Lindsay Harmon-Hardin, MD, started her emergency medicine residency at Indiana ­University (IU) nearly three years ago, she didn't know what to ­expect. But unlike many of her counterparts beginning programs across the country, Harmon-Hardin wasn't thrown into seeing patients, writing orders, or doing procedures on day one. Rather, her residency orientation began with a picnic at the home of Carey ­Chisholm, MD, director of IU-Methodist's emergency medicine residency program.
