Quality and patient safety are at the center of healthcare reform, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital initiatives.
However, today’s medical students and residents are not learning enough about patient safety, the importance of teamwork and communication, and safety science, according to a white paper released by the Lucian Leape Institute at the National Patient Safety Foundation in March.
