A two-minute tool to facilitate faculty feedback to residents

Formal systems that make feedback a part of residents’ and faculty members’ daily routine may help attending physicians overcome the common barriers to discussing the resident’s performance, such as:
- Lack of time
- The faculty member feeling unskilled to give feedback
- The faculty member not wanting to hurt the relationship with the resident
An end-of-shift evaluation card is an easy tool to use to promote timely feedback. (See the sample evaluation card on p. 7 of the pdf.)
