The institutional orientation sends a strong message to residents. Well-organized and informative presentations by key administrators and educators not only prepare residents for patient care duties but also show them how the hospital values resident education.

Summa Health System in Akron, OH, reorganized the institutional new-resident orientation to ensure that residents receive all information needed to start in July and meet ACGME requirements.
