Ensure an on-time and smooth start for IMGs

It is imperative that IMGs start training on time. Incomplete or incorrect documentation can cause trainees to start late, says Maria DeOliveira, medical education administrative director for the internal medicine residency program at Boston University Medical Center.

Each visa type has specific requirements and time restrictions, and a delayed start may mean that IMGs cannot finish their training before they need to leave the country, DeOliveira explains.
