The relative ranking model explained

The relative ranking model is a framework for guided self-assessment. Faculty members and program directors facilitate a self-assessment exercise with a resident, during which the trainee compares his or her performance on a set of skills relative to each other. This model helps trainees overcome barriers to meaningful self-assessment. It also helps faculty start structured and specific feedback conversations about residents’ performance.
