: The new year is an introspective time as many set resolutions for the year ahead. Apply the same introspective spirit to your program by strengthening teaching efforts in the competency all about self-reflection—practice-based learning and improvement (PBLI).

PBLI can be simply summed up as a physician analyzing and improving his or her own practice behaviors. The goal is for program directors, coordinators, and faculty members to teach residents and fellows to become lifelong learners who constantly strive to improve their practice.
