With a site visit on the horizon and a program information form (PIF) to complete, program directors and coordinators need to work as a team. Program directors and coordinators should meet one year prior to the site visit date to discuss their roles and duties.
The program director has ultimate responsibility for the completion of the PIF, and he or she should:
- Gather data
- Verify data
- Meet with stakeholders
- Review documentation
- Obtain all required signatures
- Submit the PIF
The coordinator supports the program director throughout this process and helps complete the PIF. Coordinators should:
- Maintain resident and program files
- Handle logistics, meetings, and schedules for the day of the site visit
- Monitor stakeholders’ progress
- Work with the program director to answer the PIF questions
Today’s question and answer come from The Program Information Form Made Simple: A Guide to Completing the ACGME PIF, by Jeri L. Whitten, C-TAGME.
