Avoid ACGME citations for a lack of patient cases

When preparing for a site visit, program directors don’t have to dig too deeply to figure out whether their residents are getting the appropriate amount of experience and performing the necessary number of procedures.
Most programs require residents to log patient encounters via the ACGME’s Case Log System or in a residency management system such as New Innovations or E*Value. These portals allow residents and program managers to see and track the total number of procedures each resident performs. Although program directors can easily monitor residents’ case numbers, finding a solution when residents fall behind is not as simple.
