Residency program directors and coordinators are buried with verification requests, and there’s no sign that they’re going to get a break anytime soon.
Credentialing regulations from CMS and hospital accreditors such as The Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO) mean coordinators and directors will most likely see the number of verification requests skyrocket in the next year or two, says Kathy Matzka, CPMSM, CPCS, a medical staff consultant based in Lebanon, IL.
