It’s important that residency program managers know what areas the ACGME cites most often during site visits. The RRC most likely recognizes that these areas are challenging for your colleagues and may closely securitize them during your review.
Look for common citations on the ACGME’s Web site. Most RRCs post a list of the most common citation on their specialty’s page. Go the “Review Committee” button on the left menu bar, and pick your specialty. If you discover that your RRC does not provide this information, contact the RRC executive director via e-mail to request it.
Contact your GME office or designated institutional official (DIO) for a list of common institution citations among programs at your facility.
This week’s question and answer come from Insider’s Guide to the ACGME Site Visit, Second Edition (published by HCPro, Inc), by Kathryn Andolsek, MD, MPH, and Shepard Cohen.
