Two VA hospitals in the Tampa Bay area have had to divert patients a large portion of the time, due to an increased demand for services, reports the St. Petersburg Times. The James A. Haley VA Medical Center has diverted all patients 16% of the time since January 2006 and Bay Pines VA Medical Center has recently improved numbers to a 7% diversion rate, down from a high of 28% in 2003.
