WHO releases report on preventing global spread of diseases
Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, September 4, 2007
The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a report on the state of global health security. Titled A Safer Future, the report outlines ways that all countries can help prevent the spread of diseases. These include: Implementation of the international health regulations, better international notification methods when an outbreak occurs, a greater sharing of knowledge and technology to fight diseases, more emphasis placed on healthcare infrastructure, governmental collaboration, and more global resources aimed at training and response to outbreaks.
The WHO reports that new diseases are being discovered at a faster rate than ever before. This report gives healthcare workers around the globe new strategies for fighting these disesases.
