Hong Kong Hospital Authority to encourage medical error reporting
Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, September 3, 2007
Last month, Hong Kong's Hospital Authority announced a new initiative to better monitor and report adverse medical events. The system uses the already established online reporting system, in place since March 2006. All public hospitals will be required to report nine different types of sentinel events within 24 hours using the online system. In addition, within 48 hours, an investigation team will have to look into the sentinel event, and within six weeks, a root cause analysis will have to be performed.
The hospital authority aims to have this system in place by October 2007. To read more click here.
