WHO contracts with Joint Commission to test ICPS
Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, August 21, 2007
The World Health Organization (WHO) awarded the Joint Commission a contract to field test the International Classification for Patient Safety (ICPS), which is sponsored by the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety. The goal of the ICPS project is to create a classification system that can be used on a global scale to compare patient safety measures.
The project aims to make patient safety-related data easily translated from one nation to another, as well as easily collectable. This should be done in a way that is educational and also improves patient safety, according to a Joint Commission press release.
