Private doctors in India to offer TB education programs

Patient Safety Monitor: Global Edition, August 21, 2007

Physicians in India are getting ready to offer the latest Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), reports the Indian Express. The RNTCP, in conjunction with the Indian Medical Association, will work to educate citizens in some of India's states. The program is made possible by a grant from the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

The program will run for five years. During that time, 50,000 doctors will offer the Directly Observed Treatment, Short-course (DOTS) to five Indian states and a union territory. The goal of the program is to lower the spread of tuberculosis.
